MS. TRANS AMERICA™, televised CEREMONY and series.

Ms. Trans America™ is in talks to air the Ms. Trans America™ Ceremony and a reality series that follows the participants and shares their personal stories.  Both are designed to shine a light on the lives of Trans individuals chosen as participants and to explore the people and events in their lives that helped them find safety and the strength to live as their authentic selves.  Unlike traditional pageants that whose focus is a societal standard of beauty, Ms. Trans America is built to identify individuals within the Trans Community who can become leaders for the community, who can speak within the community, and who can represent the community within the national and international media.

MS. TRANS INTERNATIONAL™

Similarly, Ms. Trans International™ is being developed as a short form series that examines the contestants and shares their personal stories, especially how life is reflected for them in their respective countries.  Both are designed to shine a worldwide spotlight on transgender issues through the individuals chosen as participants and to explore the people and events in their lives that helped them find safety and the strength to live as their authentic selves.  

TRANS AMERICA MEDIA FOUNDATION

Our goal through the Ms. Trans America™ pageant and series has been to bring more national attention and respect to the transgender community.  While traditional pageants have often been derided for their objectification of women, the winners of those pageants were able to become national spokespersons for significant causes, charities, and educational programs, among others.  While the last few years have seen an ever increasing visibility of transgender individuals, there is still a shortage of individuals who can speak for the community and who the media / press / government turn to for insight into the community.  In our very non-traditional pageant way, we aim to help identify individuals who can help become leaders within their community and who can act as liaisons to the media / press / government, and similar.  

The search for the real girl™

The Search for the Real Girl™ is a cultural social project designed to bring to light the individual stories of Trans Youth through the narrative expression of their collective stories of learning to accept and express the truth of their gender identity or gender non-conformity.  “Real Girl” has long been used as a transphobic label that intentionally disenfranchises members of the Trans community. Through individual narratives we hope to create a unique narrative series that delves deeper into the societal complexities of acceptance within existing genders of non-gender conforming individuals and counters the transphobic, sexist and homophobic assessment of anyone as a “real” girl or boy.
